Father’s Day Gifts for Kids to Make:
- Key Keeper -- This is a great gift to make and give fathers so that they can keep a track of their keys. This gift is easy to make and children can make it with little supervision. All that is needed to make is 2 1/2” X 12” pine boards, a few flat wooden spoons, markers, glue, 2 picture hangers, yarn, and some screw-in hooks.
Help your kid to attach the picture hangers to the back of the board so that his father can hang the key keeper. Decorate the wooden spoons; a common way of decorating the spoons is to make each one resemble a family member and the yarn is used for the hair. Glue the handle of each spoon to the back of the board. Once the spoons are glued tight, screw a hook into the board below each spoon so that it can be used to hang different keys. Viola! Your key keeper is ready.
- Scented Soap -- Add Ivory Snow into a mixing bowl and add water until the mixture gets a bread dough consistency. Then add some food coloring and a few drops of dad’s favorite cologne. Knead the dough well and then pinch off small pieces and roll into balls. Allow the balls to dry for 4 days. Place the balls into colored transparent wrapping paper and tie a colorful ribbon. You can also add in a handmade card to complete this special Father’s Day gift.
- Necktie-shaped Cake -- Use dad’s favorite cake mix. Follow the instructions on the package to mix and pour the batter into one cupcake holder. Pour the remaining batter into a rectangular pan. Bake according to instructions and then allow the cake to cool down completely. Remove the cake from the rectangular pan and cut it into half lengthwise. Place the halves end to end on a cookie sheet. Now take the cupcake and place it at one end of the cut halves; and opposite end cut it to a V-shape. Now decorate your necktie cake to resemble a tie. This is one Father’s Day gift that dad would love to sink his teeth into!
